Year 9: Percentage change

This cheat sheet will help you understand and calculate percentage change.

What is Percentage Change?

Percentage change shows how much a value has increased or decreased compared to a starting point. It’s a way of expressing change as a proportion of the original amount.

Formula

The formula for calculating percentage change is:

Percentage Change = (Final Value - Initial Value) / Initial Value x 100%

Where:

  • Final Value = The new value.
  • Initial Value = The original value.

Remember: Percentage change is always expressed as a percentage.
